Profile of Scotty - Robert Scott
The aim of my motorcycle tours is to provide a value-for-money motorcycling touring experience here in New Zealand. The tours usually start out of Auckland.
My tours are well within the budget of the recreational motorcyclist, and the many tours that I have organized so far, have covered the four corners of New Zealand.
TWTNZ tours have operated on a seasonal basis since 2008. The tours by and large cater to New Zealand folk, but overseas folk are most welcome to participate.
My current bike of choice to lead (or to be tail-end-charlie) my various tours is a Kawasaki Concourse.
I also operate a calendar wholesale business Blackfish Media Ltd - www.blackfish.co.nz - which prints calendars in China, and distributes the finished calendars to around 500 outlets in New Zealand.
Previously to motorbike tours, I was in the grocery trade, having operated the Molesworth Four Square grocery store for twenty years at Mangawhai Heads, North Auckland.
I also served for five years on the National Assoc of Retail Grocers of NZ corporate board and was Vice Chairman for two years.
During the latter years of my grocery career I commenced my motorcycle touring venture.
My other interests include jogging (a former Wellington Marathon winner), scuba-diving (have dived all around the Pacific), rail travel, piano playing, as well as the treasurer of my local rugby club Tomarata RFC Inc. (www.tomarata.co.nz) for the past twenty-three seasons, and have recently become a life-member of the rugby club.
During the mid 1980s I spent eighteen months working in the Western Australian outback repairing Southern Cross windmills, plus six months working in London.
Towards the late 1980's I spent two years in Harare, Zimbabwe, teaching and playing club rugby.
One further year (1990) was spent teaching and playing club rugby in South Africa, in the Natal settlement of Port Shepstone.
In 2003 I walked the length of New Zealand - 2355km - in sixty five days from Bluff to Cape Reinga, so I literally do know New Zealand every step of the way.
If you want swanky hotels and to be pampered from A to Z then my motorcycle tours are not for you, but if you want to experience real New Zealand, and meet everyday born and bred New Zealanders such as myself and other kiwi motorcyclists, then my motorcycle tours are ‘spot on’ for you. More than happy to consider any motorcycling tour or guiding proposal.
